Health and Safety Point to discuss:
- Hazardous substances must be stored in suitable and un-damaged Containers placed at appropriately bunded locations.
- All chemicals must be kept only in those containers which are meant for the purpose.
- Do not store chemicals in pet bottles or other containers which could be confused with drinking liquids.
- Containers of hazardous substances must be labelled appropriately and clearly.
- Incompatible substances must be
segregated.
- Solvents stored must be kept to minimum amounts.
- Storage areas must be adequately ventilated.
- Spill clean-up materials must be readily available and clearly identified.
- Storage areas must clearly identified,
appropriately sign posted to warn Persons.
- Appropriate fire extinguishers must be available.
- Storage areas for hazardous waste must be separate, clearly identified & sign posted appropriately.
- Appropriate drip trays must be provided to contain spills.
- Valid risk assessments, MSDS and hazardous chemical registers must be maintained at site stores.
- Appropriate PPE such as goggles, face shields, gloves and aprons must be used while handling.
- Employees who are trained and acquainted with MSDS must handle the Hazardous chemicals.
- Hazardous waste must be disposed of in a safe manner.
